Oasis - Straight8 “Cannes” Selection for 2020

The Straight8 short film competition is held in conjunction with the Cannes FIlm Festival each year. The challenge is to create a film shot on a single roll of 8mm film while employing the technique of “in-camera editing”.
No small feat.
Of over 1000 entries from all over the world, the film “Oasis” (Shot and co-directed by Greg Hatton and Kyle Camerer) was one of 8 films selected to premiere at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival. Sadly Covid-19 cancelled the event so premiere was done online. Another accolade from this selection was that “Oasis” was the only film from the United States selected in the group of 8 that was headed to Cannes.
