artist statement
“Everything has a story; everything and everyone.”
“Gordon Parks once stated that the camera was his “weapon of choice”. A sentiment that I grasp fully. The camera is a tool that stops time as to expose us to ourselves. Our beauty, the grotesque. Our strengths, the frailties. Where we live, how we live. The pain, joy, the common place and the unknown. All of it is captured and all of this tells the story of our time.
There’s a responsibility in that. Because everything has a story; everything and everyone. The camera’s purpose is to capture and pass those stories along. As a craft, and as craftsmen/craftswomen we’re the ones that can tell these stories. That’s exciting to me.”
